OST bags the prestigious campus wi-fi project of Panjab University.

OST is awarded the prestigious 36 million INR contract for establishing campus-wide wi-fi connectivity in Panjab University situated at Chandigarh. The contract would help achieve wi-fi in about 30 Academic Blocks and 16 Hostels. For such large Wi-Fi deployment and to cover maximum area with excellent Wi-Fi signal, a mixture of Indoor and Outdoor solution was required and so total of 660 Indoor Access Points and 160 Outdoor Access Points had been planned for deployment. The management of the Wi-Fi network would be on the centralized Controller based Architecture which can additionally perform tasks such as AP/RF management, integration with the existing network and reporting.

The new Wi-Fi shall consist of maximum security features such as VPN authentication and captive portal authentication, etc. which would enable the university to take maximum gain the state of art technology.

The active components to be used in the set up would be of Aruba Networks, world’s leading Wi-Fi component manufacturer and solutions provider.

Aruba is a Gartner leader amongst the best brands in business and has been running a successful partner-support model all over the globe. Says Mr Dinesh Sharma, Managing Director of OST Electronics, who incidentally is also a PU alumni of 1980s, ‘it’s our organization’s great privilege to have been awarded this contract for execution of campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity and support. Even the university’s existing wired network was executed by OST in 2006 and has been maintained and upgraded during these years, says Dinesh Sharma.

The scope of work also includes the required number of POE-switching and passive laying along with workmanship of OST’s premium skillsets in establishing the best connectivity and post-warranty supports.

This is the second big contract within a time-frame of 30 days from the same city in the networking and data security space. Earlier, OST was awarded the 1200-nodes secured network connectivity contract of the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court and the value of the same was about 22 million INR.
